Leviathan was so different he can't really be compared. She doesn't have a regular projectile, but her melee attack kills all bosses in seconds and iirc she has higher speed and jump invul. The woman gets a slightly higher run and climb speed lol. He gains complete rising jump invul, flinch resistance, and keeps weapons so long as he doesn't get knocked down. He starts with homing laser, which is amazing, compared to the woman's spread shot and machine gun which are the two most common weapons. Between the two base characters, the guy was clearly better. And the characters themselves were not really balanced, but that probably wasn't their intention. However, the point grind for the progression mode takes way too long to get everything PER character. The graphics, art style, and music were all awesome.
I had a blast playing it, hunting for the hidden medals, and S-Ranking each stage at least once (it was character specific).
